The summer months ranging from November to April being the most productive. The reason being is that shoals of bait fish gather in the bay, mainly juvenile pilchards growing very quickly due to the rich waters. These fish move up the east coast with the first cold front in may congregating in huge shoals off bird island near Port Elizabeth. This Migration is called the annual sardine run hitting the Kwazulu Natal shores around july with all this bait fish congregating in Plettenberg Bay. During summer months shoals of Garrick (Leeruis) move in to prey on the Pilchards. On some days spining off the piont of Robberg you could have up to 30 Anglers casting Aubrey Da Gama Wooden or Teflon plugs in between shoals of Garrick or Yellowtail feeding on bait fish. The point Area works very well with the south easterly winds. While the island works well with the south westerly winds.
